The Cajun Connoisseur has a mission to make Chicago a whole lot closer to New Orleans. Minus maybe the humidity. Maybe minus the accents. Maybe (like only maybe) minus the general level of public intoxication. But definitely the food. The food’s the same. In fact, if you’re lucky enough to track them down and grab a bite of authentic po boy or jambalaya, you might be shocked to turn around and not see Bourbon street behind you.
Lovingly nicknamed Connie, the truck brings Bourbon to whatever street it turns on, and drawing crowds ready to be transported without spending a fortune on plane tickets. Aside from the aforementioned morsels, the Connoisseur’s got some of the best regarded fish & grits in the ward, along with a baked potato that taste as great as it pads your tongue from the heat of the other offerings. Which in both cases means a lot. For a taste of the bayou that doesn’t require removing a single glove, track down the Connoisseur and help bring southern hospitality back to Chicago’s hospitality.
